A good example ...

... of something that would probably be really cheesy if the lyrics had been in a language I could understand properly. But since I don't understand it, I can just look at the pretty pictures and let it all wash over me. ;-)

  1. The song is “Je te perdrai” (I will lose you) by Hélène Segara. The lyrics are extremely cheesy, repetitive, and sometimes barely comprehensible. Here's a quick & dirty quick translation; if there are lines that don't make sense in English, trust me, they don't make sense in French either.

Also, despite being born and raised in France, she speaks (or at least sings) French with a subtle but noticeable accent: her vowels and diphtongs are a bit off. It might just be a local dialect, but it sounds “foreign” to me.

Whichever way my hands hold on to you
Even if our world always keeps us close
    I will lose you
Whatever the light I set at your feet
My dreams and my prayers, inside me I know
    I will lose you
    I will lose you
In one of my looks, here or somewhere
    But not unknowingly
    I will lose you
    In one of my looks
    I will lose you
In the water of my pain, by gagging my heart
    I will lose you
One day you will leave for another face
And in spite of this love you will turn the page
    Without remorse
You will not see me as an old ideal
    One day you will leave
    Inside me I hurt
    I will lose you
    I will lose you
In one of my looks, here or somewhere
    But not unknowingly
    I will lose you
    In one of my looks
    I will lose you
In the water of my pain, by gagging my heart
    I will lose you
    In one of my looks
    Here or somewhere
    But not unknowingly
    I will lose you
    By gagging my heart
    I will lose you
    I will lose you

  2. I lost someone I loved once in the water of my pain, that was a wretched day.
