Picture of the month - March 2009

Picking my favorite photo out of all the ones I took last month was really tricky this time. I took some really great shots in Warsaw (I could hardly avoid getting at least some good ones, considering how many I took :-). I am soo happy with some of the shots from that trip. But all the same I think my top fave this month has to be one that I took in my guest room. :-) Remember the video I posted a while back, with all three of my little guys climbing and swimming and biting and what not? I spent a couple of hours or so with them all on the loose like that, and I took a series of pictures as well as that video. They were doing so many cute and funny things. :-) One of these photos came out unusually well. I caught a special moment. :-) Something that has happened many a time but is very difficult to catch with a camera. :-)

This is my precious little Henrik in the very act of chomping down on my finger.

NOM ... !!!

Picture of the month - February 2009

Remember this from last month? How I was going to pick one photo from each month as my favorite and post it here? And how I said I wouldn't necessarily be able to say why whichever picture I picked was my favorite? Well ... here's that statement illustrated. :-)

I've taken a number of good pictures this month as we've had record snowfalls (the worst - or best, depending on who you ask - since 1987, apparently) and there's been lots of things around the city to take pictures of. And of course some beautiful sunsets and so on. But for some reason this is the one picture I've taken in February that I like the best. Click to enlarge.

A pretty good macro if I do say so myself. Really not sure though why I like it so much ... maybe the colors. For some reason this image is quite beautiful to my eyes. :-) I'd love to hear what others think.

Background info ... the picture was taken through the window of a bus on line 59 here in Oslo one early morning. It was very cold ... as you can probably see, it's not water running down the window, it's something that was water at one point, while the bus was in its garage for the night, but froze to a strip of ice when it came time to leave the building and start the day's work in the wintry city. Poetic in a way, isn't it? :-) I normally wouldn't have seen this as I usually sit on the other side of the bus ... I always sit in the same seat if I possibly can, which I'm sure isn't entirely flattering to my mental health. But anyway ... that morning 'my' seat was taken, so I picked one across the aisle ... and got to see the first of the sunrise, which inspired me to get my camera out and take a couple of pictures.

I really don't know why I always sit on the other side.

Picture of the month - January 2009

Today's post: the result of a brilliant idea I had either very late last night or very early this morning. The chain of events is blurred in my mind. Doesn't matter anyway. Here's my big idea. I take a lot of pictures. Because ... playing around with cameras is fun. :-) This past month, since I've been on Flickr, I've become even more interested in it. Starting now, every month I will post my one favorite photo out of every picture I've taken in the previous month. I'm not saying these will be my best pictures. A lot of them probably will, but that's not the point. The point is that they'll be the ones I like the best. For whatever reason. I may not even be able to tell you why I like them exactly. That's the case with my selection for January. I can't really tell you why, but I'm just so happy with this shot. :-)

I took it as we were standing in line to get into Rockefeller for the Katzenjammer concert on January 23rd. Rockefeller Music Club ... and we were almost first in line, so we were standing almost underneath the marquee. There was a wind blowing and the city lights in the sky. :-)

Click to enlarge, why don't you. :-)
