... will be today's entry. Findabair and I talked about this picture over on her LJ - she's never seen it, so here it is. Pretty cool or what? :-) The sad part is that I was nowhere near as close as it looks, I just got lucky with the zoom on my camera. The other guy is some politician ... he was head of the Alna district council (or whatever I should call it in English, I don't know) at the time. This was taken at Tveten farm at Tveita in Oslo on May 17th, 2006. Yay. :-)
Just FYI, for those who don't know it, I am a v. staunch royalist and I will fight the republic till my last breath if it comes to that, etc. I love our royal family and I think we're very lucky to have them. :-)

Damn, you look close to him!
Nice photo of King Harald.
That is a great photo :) And cool to see proof that he actually has the classic profile shown on the coins!!
Is this threat of war eminent, do we need to send support, if yes would we need to plan to be gone long?
Is there a movement against royalty in Norway?
It looks like I was standing, say, 2 meters away ... but in reality it was actually more like 10. Plus. I was quite impressed with my camera when I saw how well the picture turned out. :-)
radical royalist, thanks for stopping by! Though I really wonder how on earth you found this post?! :-D I like your blog!
He does look pretty much exactly like his portrait on the coins in this picture, you're right, Findabair. :-D It's so weird seeing these people in real life - they're like the pyramids, such iconic images that realizing they actually really exist is surprising on some level. I remember one time I saw the crown princess shopping in Sandvika mall ... she wore jeans and a t-shirt ... ouch, fuses were snapping in my head ... ! :-o
Paz: No, fortunately, republicanism is deeply dormant in this country. One political party - out of a total of what, eight in Parliament - have it on their party program but it's a sleeping paragraph, they never do anything about it. Support for the monarchy is too strong in the people, they'd never get anywhere with it. As things stand now. Let me put it like this: as long as there are Norwegians alive who remember the war, it will be impossible to dethrone the grandson of king Haakon VII. After that, who knows? Personally I believe 100% that the monarchy is the best system for Norway, and I hope I won't have to see a change in my lifetime. If it does change, though, I'm sure it will all be very peaceful and done by committee. Ie, very very slowly ... ;-)
Oh, cool photo. Tough I must admit I'm not a royalist myself, I have nothing against our wonderful royal family. It has nothing to do with the people, and I have no plans on fighting for a republic. ;-)
Good to know I won't have to take up arms against you on that account, at least. ;-)
It really IS the coin profile! Fascinating.
It is! Mindboggling, in the actual sense of the word. AFAIK. :-)
I wonder what it's like for him actually, having your profile depicted on something that is used so frequently by pretty much everyone living in the country..!
