That's just what I needed - one more online community to spend my time on. ;-)
I couldn't help myself, though. The temptation was too great. I've used Photobucket exclusively up to now - so much so that I now need to get a paid upgrade to add anything more to my album. o_O I will definitely do that ... Photobucket is such a great place to store photos and I've become completely addicted to it after I started this blog. And I'll be happy to support them financially - considering how much I get out of their service it's only fair to pay it back a little. That's always something to consider, IMO.
But I do have friends who swear by Flickr (and at least one who didn't even know he was registered there ;-) so I decided to take a closer look at it. And it does seem to be a pretty good service. I love the photo sharing groups ... I've joined like 36 of them already. Mostly about turtles. ;-) It seems to be more about sharing than Photobucket, which - IMO at least - is mostly a storage place which you can also link to. That's how I'll be using the two, anyway ... dump everything at Photobucket (in ... ??) and share the best at Flickr. :-)
And in order to not get totally obsessed and waste enormous amounts of time on it I will be quite strict with myself when it comes to using the latter. I figured if I upload one or max two pictures per day I'll be staying within the free account limits. And will have time to write descriptions of each picture, and add them to groups, and, and ... :-D
I seriously have to stop myself so I don't go nuts with things like this. But you can see my Flickr photostream here, if you're interested. :-)

In defence of the " one who didn't even know he was registered" , he had to signup to view the pictures of one of his friends that was travelling the world and he also admits having MSN,YAHOO,AOL mail address's that he only everuses for IMing old friends.
Aw! I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make fun of you. It was just ... well ... amusing to me. :-) Hope you won't hold it against me. :-)
no need to be sorry I pull the piss of myself the whole time, its an Irish trait. At this stage I have a Masterpassword for all the systems at home/work etc so if I know the username I can log in
Yes, I'd be lying if I said that you stand out in my mind as a very serious-minded person ... ;-) Which of course IMO is all to the good. The world would be a better place if more people would take themselves less seriously. :-)
I also have one password - totally meaningless gibberish - that I use for pretty much everything. And I try to use the same username or close variations thereof (some places won't allow spaces, for instance). Separate passwords for everything would never work for me. :-)
I'm on Flickr, and I love it to bits, particularly after I paid for a pro account. I'm registered on Photobucket as well, but I was far too annoyed by the layout and ads there to start using it seriously. So just you wait, now you're on Flickr, you won't be able resist its power ;P
And Paz - you're on Flickr as well?? Cool, since I've been thinking you should be - there are several groups with photos from Ireland there that has made me think of your work :)
Well, it's pretty addictive, I'll give you that. :-) I've had to make up some rules for myself. ;-) But I've tried posting a picture from flickr onto here and it didn't work ... I didn't get the layout I wanted. So I'll be sticking to photobucket as my main picture ... thingy. :-)
And I totally agree that Paz should post some of his pictures on Flickr!! :-D
I have to try and get logged in again, here I will post pics I have taken in other countries, will that suffice
Good idea!
I have had to get a new account I have added you as friend each week I will post one of my fav pics not taken in Ireland. I will not be adding the big red sun burned potato headed shots of an Irish man in the sun :D
LOL!
Friending you too in one sec.
I wonder that you didn't get the layout you wanted though? I've had no problems with that at all over on LJ. Might it be something with blogger rather than flickr?
Well, if truth be told, I haven't experimented with it a lot. But all the posting options I looked at were different from what I wanted. And they put links on there that I don't want to have there.
Maybe it's different from lj to blogger, sure, that's probable. But that doesn't solve the problem. ;-) Not that it's much of a problem anyway - as you may have seen in this week's Keanupost, I did it via Picasa and got it right. :-)
