Quote of the Week

As far as I can tell from studying the scriptures, all you do in heaven is pretty much just sit around all day and praise the Lord. I don't know about you, but I think that after the first, oh, I don't know, 50,000,000 years of that I'd start to get a little bored.

Yup. :-)

Have you read Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman? They have another take on it, even funnier.

have not read it, I will take your word for it

You should totally read it! It's a fantastic book. The part I was thinking of is a scene between the main characters, the demon Crowley and the angel Aziraphale, where they discuss why they should prevent the Armageddon, because they don't want the world to end. Because 'the boredom you get in Heaven is almost as bad as the excitement you get in Hell' ... and Crowley's way of describing that to his friend is to rattle off that story about the little bird that sharpens its beak on the mountain at the end of the world once a century ... then when the mountain has been worn away by this, an eternity has passed ... and after all that time, says Crowley, Aziraphale will still not be done watching The Sound of Music. Personally I don't think that sounds so bad, but ... ;-)

funny that the Demon has an Irish name, I dont get much chance to read these days, only audio books while I am driving

The demon is named after Aleister Crowley, the famous occultist. It's a totally hilarious book, you should read it if you ever get the chance. It is available in audiobook but I think that's out of print ... but maybe you could get it through your library?
