I really wonder sometimes ...

... who watches my videos at youtube. Seriously. Someone is watching them. I so wonder how they come across them. I've uploaded about 40 videos now, almost all of them of my turtles ... and all of them have been watched by someone, or a few someones, even though I've done nothing to promote most of them. Some of the videos I've put in blogposts, so that makes sense - when someone watches them here on the blog, that gets registered as watched on youtube. I assume. But most of them are only on my youtube channel. Which I have linked to on the right hand sidebar, but still. I can't really imagine a lot of people following that link. I don't think I have more than a dozen readers here, tops. :-)

Yesterday I uploaded four more vidoes - Raphael climbing and running, and Herman and Henrik begging for food - and within a few hours all of them had been watched several times. By whom, I wonder? :-) I also got my first subscriber yesterday, and my first ever comment on one of the videos. The subscriber is someone in Denmark (she is one of the people who's watched my new videos, I assume), and the comment came from someone in the US. The weirdness of the intarwebs! How did these people even find my videos. I have to wonder.

If anyone reads this and wants to do me a favor: would you go to youtube and do a search for, let's say 'reeves turtle'? I'm not sure if I do it myself the results won't be skewed somehow. Then post a comment to let me know if any of my videos come up with that search. Or 'RES' or 'red eared slider turtle'.

Not that it matters, but I am curious. :-)

Since you asked.... Typed "Reeves turtle" and hit no. 3 (or was it 4...) was a Henrik video of yours. Mystery solved! ;-)

Thanks! That does go some way towards solving the mystery, at least if 'reeves turtle' is a search that people really use. ;-) Can you try a search for 'RES' too and see if Dino and/or Raphael pop up? :-)

I was over on youtube the other day and looked through at least some of your videos (after you posted some of them here), so I guess I've contributed at least a little to the numbers :)

Hi!Thanks for commenting on my post :-) I also caught a bit of weirdness when i learned that someone from OSLO visited my blog AND SHE WAS ALSO VERY FOUND OF TURTLES! I once had a turtle just like yours (another weirdness:Chinese turtles and Norwegian turtles looked the same, at least to me), but then she got sick and stopped eating, and starved to death in the end:-( Totally broke my heart and I was too much hurt to have another one ever since. Sorry
for bringing that up...anyway, i just want to say hi, and best wish to you and your little cute turtles!

findabair: That explains some of it, so thanks :-) and I'm sure the first few hits will be from 'your' type of viewer (ie came to the video channel via the blog). But some of those things have been watched like 30 times; I don't think that was all you ... ;-) Something totally not turtle related coming up on my youtube soon, btw, which will interest you ... ;-)

Geeky Girl: Hi, nice to see you here! :-) Actually, there are no Norwegian turtles (too far north; we only have some snakes and one lizard), and my two little guys, that I assume are the ones you recognized, are in fact Chinese turtles. :-D Chinemys reevesii are native to China, Korea, Taiwan and a couple of the Japanese islands. So I'm not at all surprised that you're familiar with them. They are quite popular as pets here in Europe. Not surprisingly as they're wonderful turtles and easy to care for. :-)

I'm so sorry to hear about your turtle that died ... I've had two myself which died, so I know the feeling. That's something we all risk when we have pets. :-(

The Cog: Hi, nice to see you here too! :-) I can recommend turtles, they're great pets IF one has the room to provide an adequate living environment for them. So if you ever decide to get one, make sure you read up on some species first to make sure you get one that's right for you in size and general temperament. :-) I'd love to get a postcard from Ohio; I'll email you my address. Thanks for offering!! :-)
